Here at CLS Sports we specialise in stitched hybrid pitch systems and hybrid grass installation. We use Verdi Mix and Mixto grass systems which are the perfect blend of natural and artificial turf that are designed specifically for hosting a variety of needs in the sporting world. From football to rugby these pitches are for long lasting durability with the most realistic touches from artificial turf.
We provide the highest quality pitch construction working across a variety of sectors. Hybrid pitches are most commonly used at the highest level of competition in football and rugby from the Premier League to both the Football and Rugby World Cups. Various famous stadiums around the world contain hybrid grass pitches due to the high quality and durability of pitches.
The hybrid pitch consists of synthetic and natural components where the artificial turf is perfectly installed to complement the natural turf’s initial growth and development which is key to having the perfect playing pitch for sports.
This system involves the stitching of individual synthetic turf fibres into a natural turf surface allowing for longer playing hours when compared to traditional natural turf grass pitches. It is an ideal solution for both sporting stadiums and elite training facilities.
Using the latest technology, self-propelled machinery is used for tufting the artificial turf fibres into natural grass in a uniform and precise ratio. As well as providing a more hard wearing turf, the synthetic fibres also stabilise the sand layer beneath the turf ensuring an evenness of the surface.
Stitching operations can be carried out on both existing fields and newly built ones (before or after seeding), easily fitting into your groundsman and clubs tight schedules between seasons. Full renovation of the organic layer can also be easily done as per traditional natural turf surfaces in future years.
The Mixto system is a reinforced hybrid surface that also has a mix of both natural and artificial grass. The artificial element of this system is rolled out and installed in a uniform layer, before sand infill and natural grass is grown within the system. This does not impede the natural turf growth and creates the best conditions for perfect oxygenation, permeability of the surface layer. The perfect air-water-soil balance is also created, preventing the formation of muddy and waterlogged conditions.
The twine created between the synthetic fibres are anchored to the special primary support layer and the natural grass ensures the maximum surface stability that prevents both snags and clumps of earth. The good thing about the Mixto turf is that the athletes perception is almost identical to that of fully natural turf proving that this technology is above and beyond anything else out there. The system can be installed in two ways:
On Site Seeding:
This involves the installation of the artificial turf carpet followed by the sand infilling, and seedenging on site. The Mixto system will then be ready for use 80 days after the seeds have germinated. The use of certified materials for sub-soil construction and the correct technical procedures allow for high-quality, fast results.
Lay & Play:
This involves the installation of pre-cultivated turf which has been grown within the Mixto system off site in nurseries that can be quickly laid for immediate use. This unique characteristic of the Mixto system allows the playing surface to be installed extremely quickly and played on immediately. We can also carry out partial and quick replacements if needed, to meet tight deadlines.
Materials:
At CLS Sports we ensure the best materials used are and the synthetics fibres are carefully combined with a natural matrix for every installation.
Playability:
Our hybrid pitches allow athletes to play safely right from the get-go. These football and rugby pitches are the best in terms of technical performance. They deliver the perfect hardness, smoothness, bounce, and ball surface interaction athletes expect.
Service:
Here at CLS we offer specialist experience and know-how in the design and installation phases of your project. We always offer professional and technical support to ensure high performance levels of your playing field overtime.
Typically a hybrid pitch would cost around £500,000 to £1.5m to install. The price varies depending on multiple factors which include the size of the pitch, sporting regulations, drainage and irrigation, the hybrid style (stitched, carpet or lay & play).
